The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (1890)

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a classic novel written by Oscar Wilde in 1890.

It centers around the life of Dorian Gray, a young man in Victorian England, who has a great desire for youth and beauty.

Dorian makes a Faustian bargain, selling his soul to stay young and beautiful forever.

His wish is granted, and a portrait of himself ages in his stead.

As Dorian lives a life of luxury and excess, the painting captures the toll of his debauchery and wickedness.

Meanwhile, Dorian meets a young actress, Sibyl Vane, and falls in love with her.

Sibyl is heartbroken when Dorian rejects her, and she tragically takes her own life soon after.
