Tongariro National Park is located on the North Island of New Zealand and is the country's oldest national park, founded in 1887.

The park is renowned for its dramatic volcanic terrain, including three active volcanoes, and its diverse ecosystems, ranging from alpine meadows to native forests.

It is also home to the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing, a 19.4 km trek through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world.

The park also offers a variety of recreational activities such as fishing, tramping, camping, mountain biking and skiing.

It is also a great place to observe native birdlife, including the endangered North Island brown kiwi.

The park is best visited in the summer months, when you can take advantage of the warmer weather and longer days.

In 2013, the park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, in recognition of its unique natural and cultural values.
