Kim Woo-choong was born in 1936 in South Korea.

He is most well-known as the founder and former chairman of the Daewoo Group.

He has been credited with helping to transform South Korea's economy from an agricultural base to an industrial powerhouse.

Kim Woo-choong graduated from Seoul National University in 1958 with a degree in economics.

In 1967, he founded the Daewoo Group, which grew to become one of South Korea's largest conglomerates.

By the late 1990s, Daewoo was the world's second-largest conglomerate, with more than 200 companies in over 40 countries.

In 1999, Kim Woo-choong stepped down as chairman of Daewoo due to financial difficulties.
