Tadashi Yanai is a Japanese entrepreneur born in 1949.

He is the founder and president of the Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., the parent company of clothing retail chains such as Uniqlo.

His career began in 1984 when he opened the very first Uniqlo store in Hiroshima.

After 15 years, by 1999, Yanai had grown Uniqlo into a chain of over 500 stores across Japan.

In 2006, Fast Retailing opened its first international store in London.

By 2018, Fast Retailing was the world’s fourth-largest apparel retailer, with over 3,000 stores in 22 countries and regions.

In 2019 Yanai was listed as the richest person in Japan and the 31st richest person in the world.
