Mikitani Hiroshi (1965-) is a Japanese entrepreneur, best known as the founder and CEO of Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce company established in 1997.

He was born in 1965 in Kobe, Japan, and graduated from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo with a degree in economics in 1988.

After graduating, he worked for the Industrial Bank of Japan before moving to the United States for three years to study at Harvard Business School.

Upon returning to Japan, he joined Rakuten as its founding CEO in 1997 and has since grown the company into a global enterprise with over 17,000 employees.

Hiroshi Mikitani has been credited with revolutionizing the way Japanese consumers shop online, creating a new way of doing business in the country.

He has also led Rakuten to become the world’s fourth largest e-commerce company with a market capitalization of over $18 billion.

As of 2021, he is worth an estimated $10.5 billion, making him the second richest person in Japan.
