Hiroshi Mikitani was born in 1965 in Japan.

He is a successful entrepreneur, most well-known for his role as the founder and CEO of Rakuten, one of the largest online retailers in Japan.

He has been included in Time Magazine's list of 100 Most Influential People in the World and Forbes' list of Billionaires.

In 2006, he founded the Rakuten Institute of Technology, a research and development center to help foster technologies related to the e-commerce industry.

Mikitani has also served as the Chairman of the Japan Association of New Economy and was a contributing member of Japan's Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy.

He has received numerous awards for his business achievements, including the Nikkei Global Management award and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.

In 2020, he was appointed as a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.
