Located in the Austrian Alps, the Hohe Tauern National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Europe.

It is home to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on the continent, including Austria's highest peak, the Grossglockner.

It is home to a rich variety of wildlife including chamois, ibex, golden eagles, marmots and many more.

The park is a popular destination for hikers, climbers and skiers, with over 200km of marked trails and more than 100 mountain huts.

In summer, visitors can explore the many lakes and glaciers, or take a cable car ride to the Pasterze glacier.

Winter activities include skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing and ice climbing.

The park also contains numerous historic sites, including the remains of castles, churches and other buildings from the Middle Ages.
