Beloved by Toni Morrison (1987)

Beloved is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Toni Morrison set after the American Civil War.

It follows the life of Sethe, a former slave now living in Ohio with her daughter Denver.

Sethe's home is haunted by a violent and angry spirit, believed to be the ghost of her deceased baby daughter.

The novel follows Sethe's struggle to come to terms with her traumatic past, while also exploring themes of motherhood, family, and identity.

Through the story, Morrison examines the effects of slavery and racism on African-American families.

The novel is part of a broader series known as the "Beloved Trilogy", which explores the effects of the African diaspora on the African-American psyche.

The novel is also heavily influenced by Morrison's own experiences growing up in an African-American family.
